Participants will learn the music during a single day of workshops led by Royal wedding composer and Con Anima’s President, Professor Paul Mealor, ready to perform the same evening. Both the workshop and performance will take place at High Hilton Church. In the evening, singers and audience will be treated to a short performance by Con Anima Chamber Choir, before moving on to the main event.

Con Anima, will be performing a sumptuous concert inspired by Tallis’ beautiful masterpiece, Lamentations of Jeremiah. In addition to other works by Tallis, Olivier Messaien and Jonathan Harvey, the choir is delighted to be giving the world premiere of a new work by Roger B. Williams, Lamentatione: Jerusalem, a work specially written for the choir. The concert takes place in St Machar’s Cathedral, a venue with the most sublime acoustic for the performance and enjoyment of choral music. Come and join us!

Con Anima Auditions – join us!

Con Anima Chamber Choir are looking for singers in all sections to join us in time for our Christmas concerts.  We will be performing in Cults Parish Church at 7.30pm on 13th December and St. Andrews Cathedral at noon on 15th December.  With Con Anima, the first concert is on a trial basis, following which there may be an opportunity to join us permanently.  We are very excited about our plans for Easter 2013 when we’ll be singing a programme of Tallis and contemporary music, including the Lamentations of Jeremiah and Ligeti’s Lux Aeterna.

If you are an experienced singer who would like to sing with a choir of a high standard, then we’d love to hear from you.  You will need to be available for rehearsals on Thursdays from 8-10pm on a weekly basis, starting on 15th November.

Auditions will take place on Thursday, 8th November from 7-10pm.

As part of the auditions, you will be required to sing Bruckner’s “Locus Iste” as part of a quartet (with Con Anima members filling in the other parts) and also perform a short sight-singing test. You can download the Bruckner at http://www0.cpdl.org/wiki/images/e/ed/Bruckner-Locus_iste.pdf.

Con Anima Chamber Choir

Saturday 3rd November 2012   8.00pm, King’s College Chapel, Old Aberdeen The concert will include choral music by Gibbons, Jones, Walton, Leighton, Vaughan Williams, Tavener and Holst. Conduced by Ed Jones and accompanied by Roger Williams MBE on the organ.

Saturday 12st May 2012 Craigiebuckler Church, Springfield Road Aberdeen, AB15 8AA Workshops 10.30am to 5.00pm Performance 7.30pm Craigiebuckler Church   Fast becoming an annual fixture, Con Anima’s third Come & Sing event will take place in Craigiebuckler Church in Aberdeen.  In this Jubilee year, we will learn a variety of music written for royal celebrations: from Handel’s “Zadok the Priest” to Mealor’s “Ubi Caritas”, and many more besides! In the evening, singers and audience are invited to enjoy a short performance by Con Anima Chamber Choir, before the choir are joined by the day’s participants for the main event.

A Right Royal Come and Sing workshops have sold out!

Due to popular demand there are no more spaces available for this year’s Come and Sing workshop on 12th May. We would however be delighted to see you for the evening’s performance, 7.30pm at Craigiebuckler Church in Aberdeen.
